Aids flowing before U.S. bombs start falling
The day after I read about the terrorist Taliban finding haven in Pakistan, the U.S. gives the safe country emergency aid of $110 million to aid 2 million refugees who fled the area we want protected, Swat Valley. The U.S. reportedly wants to link the fight there against the resurgent Taliban in there and in neighboring Afghanistan, where we have sent thousands of U.S. soldiers – 20 percent includes female troops.I don’t understand the logic here. I didn’t understand the logic of the illegal war(s) we have been involved in, including Vietnam, Contra BS, etc. etc. etc.We are holding on in Iran, with escalated attacks over the past couple weeks. But President Barack Obama has promised U.S. troops will be out by next June. And Iran shot off a missile this week, that our military leaders have said is not powerful enough at this point to do us any damage. Great, we can rest easy there. Ha ha.Meanwhile, more U.S. soldiers are deploying to Afghanistan – another war that many of our allies have refused to be involved in, in any measureable manner.I agree the terrorists must be stopped. It is a worldwide problem. But, why can’t we send out some Seal shooters and take them out one-by-one ala pirate-style. The area is a stink hole, fighting going on in the region for hundreds of years. Obama wants to better the lives of those innocent people in both Pakistan and Afghanistan, and I agree with that. In fact, $26 million of the new money our (economically-strapped) country is sending over will be used to buy wheat and other items produced in Pakistan, so that’s cool. But we all know the fight will spill over in Pakistan, and Afghanistan is already becoming a place where a lot of innocent women, and children are being killed in the fray – collateral damage, I think they call it.Sick of hearing of all the trauma following our soldiers back from wars, and the societal problems that are slowing emerging, but will quickly escalate and something every one of us will have to face, and deal with, and conquer. The Army is reportedly addressing the fact that only half of all war-zone soldiers (who need it) seek any kind of help to heal emotional after-effects of war.It is only natural that a soldier on his fourth tour of duty in Afghanistan or Iran would be affected by what she has participated in. One of two assignments was the norm in Vietnam. But with enlistment down, and so many being injured for life because of advanced medical techniques, what is Obama thinking? Surely, efforts in Afghanistan and Pakistan won’t drag on six years, too, like Iran??!! Let’s certainly demand not!
